Virginia Tech graduate student, Amanda Hollandsworth, becomes the first Hokie woman to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open Championship!

Virginia Tech graduate student, Amanda Hollandsworth, has qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open Championship. The Floyd, VA native won a 36-hole qualifier at Springfield Golf & Country Club held last Tuesday, April 25.

Hollandsworth finished the first round with a two under-par, 69. She followed that up with a one over-par of 72. Overall, she shot a one under-par 141. Only the top two tournament performers could earn a U.S. Women’s Open spot. Amanda just edged out Kent State’s Karoline Stormo who shot a one over-par 143, for the top spot.

Last year, Amanda helped the Virginia Tech Hokies qualify for their first ever appearance in the NCAA tournament.
