Virginia Tech freshman linebacker Isi Etute, 18, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, according to WSLS in Roanoke, Virginia.
Per the report, Blacksburg police responded to a welfare check at around 10:30 p.m. on June 1 at 119 N. Main Street and found a deceased male. Investigators ruled the death a homicide. Etute was initially named a person of interest and was later arrested.
He is being held at the Montgomery County Jail without bond.
Etute is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker from Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach. He committed to Virginia Tech on July 11, 2020, and signed with the Hokies in December.
