The latest installment of the Commonwealth Cup started well for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Quarterback Kyron Drones and the Hokies started first on offense and moved the ball into the red zone. However, a terrible holding call by the officials pushed Tech back, and they had to settle for a field goal.
However, the Virginia Tech defense was ready. The Hokies immediately got the ball back to Drones and the offense. With Tech facing a fourth-and-2 from the Virginia 44-yard line, Drones rolls to his right and finds wide receiver Stephen Gosnell for a 44-yard touchdown.
Everything about this play, from the call to the design and the execution, was perfect.
