It has been a week of excitement around the Virginia Tech football program, with big names from around the state and beyond committing to the Hokies in one of the best signing classes in school history.
National Signing Day on Wednesday brought the Hokies a consensus top 25 recruiting class for 2017, in a day that was all about those signing their scholarship papers for their education and athletic careers over the next three to four years.
While all of this was happening this week, there was quietly a feel-good story developing in the background regarding a current Hokie entering his fourth year with the program.
