When the Virginia Tech Hokies' matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks was announced a couple of years ago, there was excitement. South Carolina represented the SEC and was a regional foe. However, the primary reason VT fans were excited: South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer.
We don’t need to give you a biography of Beamer. Shane, the son of legendary Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer, was raised in Blacksburg, attended Blacksburg High School, and played and later coached for the Hokies. He is entering his fifth season as SC’s head coach in 2025 and holds a 29-22 career record.
