Virginia Tech dominates Virginia, 33-15, to bring Commonwealth Cup back to Blacksburg

The Virginia Tech Hokies entered the game on a four-game losing streak. The Virginia Cavaliers entered on a four-game winning streak. However, on Saturday night in Blacksburg, the Hokies came to play, defeating the Cavaliers, 33-15, and bringing the Commonwealth Cup back to Blacksburg.

Braxton Burmeister got the start for the Hokies at quarterback and was exceptional. Burmeister completed 15 of 22 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. Burmeister also rushed for 36 in VT’s decisive win.

The Hokies scored first when Brian Johnson connected on a 47-yard field goal. Virginia marched down the field on its first possession and scored to take a 7-3 lead.
