The Virginia Tech Hokies led the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 14-7 at halftime in what was shaping up to be the team’s latest struggle against a lesser opponent. The Hokies struggled on offense and were outgained by MTSU in the first 30 minutes.
Everything changed in the final 30 minutes as the Hokies dominated the second half en route to a 35-14 victory. Virginia Tech improves to 2-0 on the season.
Quarterback Braxton Burmeister completed 14 of 24 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 39 yards on seven attempts. Burmeister was briefly knocked out of the game in the first half on a questionable hit by a MTSU defender.
