After the Hokies monumental upset over the 5th ranked Blue Devils, the Hokies finally broke into the AP Top 25. It was the first time in nine years that Virginia Tech beat Duke, which prompted voters to place the Hokies at No. 21, after holding them out for the first eight weeks due to what many believed was a weak non-conference schedule. This marks the first time the Hokies are in the poll since November 2010, and the first time ever both men’s and women’s basketball have been ranked in the same week.
The 12-1 Hokies have wins over Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, and now Duke.
