Virginia Tech announces no tailgating this fall

The gift that is 2020 keeps on giving as Virginia Tech announced on Tuesday tailgating would be prohibited at football games this fall.

Sigh.

Tailgating will be prohibited for all fall sports, including football, volleyball, soccer and cross country.

Virginia Tech President Tim Sands released the following statement, per Virginia Tech Daily:

Football weekends and tailgate gatherings are cherished traditions for Virginia Tech and our community. I appreciate the input and support of athletic director Whit Babcock and community leaders as we came to this difficult conclusion. Though it is disappointing for all of us as we look forward to fall football, protecting public health remains our primary goal, and the foundation of the decisions we make.
