When Brent Pry coached his first game at Virginia Tech as head football coach in 2022, the Hokies dropped a 20-17 decision to Old Dominion on the road. It should have served as a sign of things to come.
Virginia Tech went on to finish 3-8 in Pry's first year in Blacksburg, replacing Justin Fuente, who was fired the previous November. Since that Saturday three-plus years ago, Pry has a 16-22 record in Blacksburg. On Saturday night, the Pry era might have been closed for good at the hands of, you guessed it, Old Dominion after a 45-26 beating the Hokies took at the hands of the Monarchs.
