Tech loses both games of day-night doubleheader to Cardinals

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech baseball team dropped both ends of an ACC doubleheader on Saturday at English Field at Union Park to visiting 21st-ranked Louisville Cardinals, falling 3-1 in the first game and 16-1 in the second.

Strong pitching in that first game also saw some great help from the defense as the Hokies turned three double plays - and a total of five on the day. Luke Scherzer allowed an unearned run in the third, while Nic Enright and Joey Sullivan combined for six innings of work and each allowed one run.
