BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech senior cornerback Greg Stroman has been tabbed to the watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award, the award’s committee announced Friday. The Jim Thorpe Award is presented to the best defensive back in college football.
Stroman broke out last season after setting career-highs in interceptions (3) and passes defended (13). Despite missing three games, Stroman broke up 10 passes, the most on the team, and developed a reputation as one of the best cover corners in the ACC. Stroman returned for the conference title game against Clemson after a three-game absence and tallied two pass deflections.
