Although C.J. Reavis will not be returning to the Hokie’s football lineup, the university announced, on Friday, that the other student athlete embroiled in misconduct this year, running back Shai McKenzie, has been reinstated to the team. Previous to this restoration McKenzie was serving an indefinite suspension after being found guilty of a misdemeanor charge and sentenced to 15 days in jail and 50 hours of community service. Over the summer the sophomore’s status of remaining a Virginia Tech football player was in question.
McKenzie was reinstated in time for the start of VPI’s autumn practice, but not all of his punitive obligations have been satisfied.
