The first game between these two teams was played 120 years ago in Charlotte. We weren't Hokies, then. We weren't even Virginia Tech, then. These teams have serious history. We compete for the same players, and once a season we compete on the football field to see who did a better job. Tech is an underdog this time. It's Frank Beamer's last home game. Lots of emotion and pride at stake this weekend.
There are just some opponents that are difficult to write about, difficult because there is history between the teams, and its frustrating history. The last time that I attended a UNC game at Lane Stadium, the 2009 Hokies were something special.
