SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Arike Ogunbowale scored 26 points, Marina Mabrey had 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, and No. 5 Notre Dame beat Virginia Tech 89-59 on Thursday night for its 11th straight victory.
Jackie Young added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Irish (26-2, 14-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). Jessica Shepard had 11 points.
Virginia Tech (17-11, 6-9) lost for the third time in four games. Aisha Sheppard scored 21 points for the Hokies, and Alexis Jean had 17.
Notre Dame grabbed control with a 15-0 run in the first half. The Irish increased their lead to 66-38 with 3:30 left in the third quarter on a left-handed layup by senior Kathryn Westbeld, who joined the team's 1,000-point club that also includes Ogunbowale and Mabrey.
