BLACKSBURG – Following a stellar defensive production over in-state rival Virginia last weekend, redshirt junior Andrew Motuapuaka has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Linebacker Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Today’s honor is the first career weekly award for Motuapuaka, as he led Tech’s defense with six tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery for a touchdown in the Hokies’ 52-10 win over the Cavaliers.
Motuapuaka had a huge defensive third quarter, as he intercepted Virginia’s quarterback Matt Johns with 11:27 remaining in the period to set up a Tech field goal.
