Virginia Tech senior defensive tackle Luther Maddy was named to the “watch list” for the 2015 Wuerffel Trophy, known as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service.” The Wuerffel Trophy is presented annually FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with athletics and academic achievement.
Maddy has already graduated from Tech with a degree in apparel, housing and resources, with a concentration in residential property management. He is currently pursuing a second degree in consumer studies. The Delray Beach, Florida native has worked on a variety of community projects and joined head coach Frank Beamer and a number of his teammates on a visit to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, last fall.
