Virginia Tech senior kicker Joey Slye has been named to the Lou Groza Award watch list. The award is given annually to the top collegiate place-kicker in the country.
Slye has been productive player for the Hokies throughout his time in Blacksburg. He currently ranks third on Virginia Tech’s all-time scoring list with 321 points. Running back Lee Suggs and kicker Shayne Graham are the only players ahead of him.
Graham’s Tech record of 68 career field goals will fall this year as Slye sits just five made kicks short of the mark.
Slye is 43-of-58 on field goals in his career and 99-of-101 on extra points.
