BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Zach LeDay had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Virginia Tech to a 71-62 victory over Jacksonville State on Wednesday night.
LeDay, who scored 12 in the second half, made 6 of 11 from the field, including his only 3-point attempt. Freshman Chris Clarke, making his first start, added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Virginia Tech (1-1) led by as many as 12 in the second half, but Jacksonville State cut it to two on two occasions -- the final time coming on a Jeremy Watson basket with 7:07 left.
