Late-inning heroics help Hokies get extra-inning, walk-off win

Ponzurick, Dauby hit ninth-inning home runs, Stoffel scores game winner in 10th

BLACKSBURG – A three-run rally in the ninth and a single unearned run in the 10th helped the Virginia Tech baseball team register a 4-3 walk-off victory over Radford on Tuesday night at English Field.

Trailing 3-0 entering the home half of the ninth, Max Ponzurick hit a two-run home run to cut the Hokies deficit to one and Matt Dauby launched a two-out solo shot to knot the score and send it to extras.

In the 10th, Tom Stoffel drew a two-out walk, moved to third on Phil Sciretta’s single and scored on an error by the Highlander third baseman Chris Coia, who could not handle a Ponzurick grounder.
