GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pole vaulter Torben Laidig began the 2016 season with a personal best mark this weekend, to rank first in the nation and earn honors as one of the ACCs’s Field Co-Performer of the Week.
Laidig cleared 5.46 meters (17-11) on his first attempt to claim the pole vault at the Virginia Tech Invite. The Schwabish Hall, Germany, native’s mark currently leads the nation and ranks tied for No. 5 all-time in school history.
This is the first such award for Laidig’s Tech career and for the Hokies this season.
