The first A.P. poll was released, and with no surprise, the Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked #1. That sets up a matchup of the number one squad versus an unranked foe in week one. The Hokies were left out of the Associated Press party which isn't very surprising. The Hokies have been an afterthought in just about every major poll, and nothing new to report here. What is interesting is Virginia Tech's history when facing off against the best team in all the land. It is also important to note the history as it pertains to number one teams losing the opener.
