Hokies Ranked 18th in AP Poll, 22nd in Coaches’ Poll

The Virginia Tech Hokies moved to 7-2 on the season (5-1 in the ACC) after a 24-21 victory over the Duke Blue Devils in Durham, North Carolina on Saturday afternoon.

Despite coasting to a 21-7 halftime lead, the Hokies limped to the finish line in the second half, struggling to closeout a well-coached Duke squad.

As a result, the Hokies moved down one spot in the Amway Coaches’ Poll, falling from number 21 in the polls last week, to number 22 in the polls heading into Week 12.

In the AP Poll, voters were much more bullish on Tech despite their sloppy win, as Justin Fuente’s squad jumped from number 23 in the nation to number 18 in the latest poll released on Sunday afternoon.
