In their last game the Hokies took care of business with a 80-67 win over the Maine Black Bears. Leading the way for the Hokies was Zach LeDay who came off the bench with 20 points and 12 rebounds for his 13th career double-double. LeDay led the balance for the Hokies as he was one of four players in double figures.
Last season the Hokies fell to visiting Appalachian State in their home opener that left the Hokies on the bubble for the entire season. That loss ultimately left Virginia Tech out of the NCAA Tournament.
Despite losing to a more experienced Hokies team, Maine head coach Bob Walsh was very optimistic on his teams efforts.
