The Hokies faced a second top 10 opponent on the road after being trounced by UNC last Thursday, and the result was much too similar. Arch-rival #9 Virginia, coming off of two great performances last week, protected their home court defeating Virginia Tech 71-48. The Hokies looked inept for the most part on both ends of the floor, not just offensively where they failed to reach 50 points for the first time since March 2014 in a 64-47 loss to Maryland.
Another slow start on the road really hurt the Hokies, who never led at any point. Virginia began the game on a 10-0 run, with the gobblers’ first basket coming after the first media timeout.
