Hokies Land Transfer WR Damon Hazelton, Jr. from Ball State

The Virginia Tech Hokies football program gained a commitment from transfer wide receiver Damon Hazelton, Jr. of Ball State University on Thursday afternoon, according to his personal Twitter account.

Hazelton, Jr., a rising sophomore, caught 51 passes for 505 yards and four touchdowns last season as a true freshman for the Cardinals. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Hazelton, Jr. will sit out the 2017 season, and will eligible to play in 2018. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

For Hazelton, Jr., the transfer to Virginia Tech makes perfect sense. When he is eligible to play in 2018, the Hokies will be extremely young at the wide receiver position, and Hazelton, Jr.
