Panousis hits a pair of 3-pointers, moves into third on career record list
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – After getting into foul trouble, junior guard Vanessa Panousis played just 25 minutes, but made the most of it, tallying 16 points to lead the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team past Penn State 64-59 on Thursday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Panousis went a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line, including 4-of-4 in the final 30 seconds to help the Hokies (6-1) secure the win over the Lady Lions (3-4). In addition, Panousis knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to move into third place on the Virginia Tech career record list, surpassing Sarah Hicks’ (1997-2002) 157 threes.
