CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Edgar Michelangelini hit a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to carry Miami to a 7-5 victory over Virginia Tech in an ACC game played Saturday afternoon at Mark Light Field.
The loss marked the end of the season for Tech, which was trying to qualify for one of the 12 spots at the ACC Baseball Championship next week. The Hokies closed the season with a 23-32 overall mark, 9-21 in the ACC. Miami, which swept the Hokies, moved to 29-26, 16-13.
Tech appeared to be in great shape to win the game after Rahiem Cooper hit a two-out, three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning to break a 2-2 tie and give the Hokies a 5-2 advantage.
