BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team swept Virginia in the regular season for the first time as the Hokies defeated the Cavaliers 60-55 on Sunday afternoon in the regular-season finale.
Trailing 46-36 with 9:43 left in the fourth quarter, the Hokies would retake the lead on a 16-0 run that spanned four minutes. Taijah Campbell and Chanette Hicks combined for 11 of the 16 points during the run as Tech went up 52-46 with 5:10 left.
The Cavaliers responded as they went on a 7-0 run to go up 53-52 with 1:48 remaining but Chanette Hicks would convert a layup and a free throw to complete a three-point play for a 55-53 Tech lead.
