After taking lead, they escaped bottom ninth, bases-loaded jam to get the win
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Virginia Tech baseball’s first win at Chapel Hill since 1976 was not going to come easy. After the Hokies broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth to take a 4-2 lead, the No. 11 North Carolina Tar Heels fought back with a two-out rally to make it a one-run game and had the bases loaded.
However, on a 3-2 pitch, Tech reliever Cole Kragel was able to get Eli Sutherland to hit a popup into foul territory behind the plate.
