TORONTO – Former Tech hurdler Queen Harrison dominated the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 12.52 seconds to earn a gold medal while setting a new Pan American Games record in Toronto last night.
Harrison (’10) shattered the previous Pan Am record in the event, set by both Jamaican Delloreen Ennis-London and Canadian Perdita Pelicen with a time of 12.65 at Rio de Janeiro’s Games in 2007.
After finishing first in her qualifying heat, Harrison was a favorite to take the crown in the 100-meter hurdles. USA took both the gold and silver medals as fellow team USA member, Tenaya Jones followed narrowly behind Harrison to finish in 12.
