After firing Brent Pry on Sept. 14, the Virginia Tech football team went out and beat an overmatched FCS Wofford team last Saturday at Lane Stadium, 38-6, for its first win of the season. Interim Philip Montgomery had them prepared and ready to play.
Now the big question this week was, could Montgomery and his staff have his team ready to go in their ACC opener on the road at North Carolina State? Nearly a double-digit underdog at kickoff, the Hokies have hung around and clawed their way to a 13-7 halftime lead.
