After two feel-good wins over Wofford and North Carolina State, the Virginia Tech football team was looking for a third straight win at home last weekend against Wake Forest. The Hokies brought back a trend from earlier in the season, turnovers and self-inflicted mistakes, in a 30-23 loss to the Demon Deacons.
Now, interim coach Philip Montgomery must regroup the troops as they prepare to head to Atlanta this weekend to play 13th-ranked Georgia Tech. Last season, the Hokies won a 21-6 battle in Blacksburg, but there have been a lot of changes with both Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech since that game in late October.
