Virginia Tech freshman wide receiver Sean Savoy had a career night on Saturday in the Hokies’ 23-10 win at Boston College. The absence of Cam Phillips created opportunities from the Washington, D.C. native and he took full advantage, catching nine passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. His performance earned him ACC rookie of the week honors.

Unfortunately, not long after the game, Savoy learned his older brother, Omar, had been shot and killed. Savoy took to Twitter to remember his older brother and the two young sons he left behind.

Head coach Justin Fuente offered his condolences on Monday, per hokiesports.
