Joey Slye was the second member of Virginia Tech’s 2017 senior class to receive some big news on Tuesday. First, Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller signed a four-year extension, making him one of the highest-paid guards in the NFL.
Also, on Tuesday, Slye signed with the Washington Football Team to be the new kicker, beginning this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Slye, the all-time leading scorer at Virginia Tech, originally began his NFL career with the New York Giants in 2019. However, he was released at the beginning of training camp before he signed with Carolina Panthers.
