The Virginia Tech/West Virginia rivalry has been in existence since 1912. Some interesting other historical events happened that same year. The Democrats nominated Woodrow Wilson, and the Bull Moose party nominated some guy named Theodore Roosevelt. It seems appropriate that the first time the Hokies and Mountaineers faced off it was an election year. It seems with the current political climate, it is appropriate the Hokies and Mountaineers renew this incredible rivalry.
