In 2008, Virginia Tech faced off against the mighty machine that is Furman football. They won the game against the Paladins 24-7. That score is not really that surprising. What surprised me during the research was that Tech was leading only 3-0 at halftime. Now keep in mind, that edition of the Hokies finished up the season at the Orange Bowl. They had just been upset against East Carolina to begin the season in Charlotte, NC.. The E.C.U. game was special because they played the game in Charlotte, sort of a precursor to the big early match ups. 72,169 fans watched the Pirates upset the Hokies in a 27-22 nail biter.
