In an offseason filled with big-name coaching hires around the ACC, arguably the most important was Virginia Tech’s ability to retain longtime defensive coordinator Bud Foster. While new head coach Justin Fuente gets to work on improving the offense, keeping Foster helps maintain a defense that has been consistently among the best in the conference.
Still, simply keeping Foster on the sideline doesn’t mean changes aren’t in store, and with two other former coordinators now on the defensive staff, there’s a lot of new input in the meeting rooms, as Foster told the Roanoke Times.
“I’ve always said that I want guys in my room that think like coordinators,” Foster said.
