The Virginia Tech Hokies endured their first season without Frank Beamer in nearly 30 years last fall, as the football program ushered in a new era with Justin Fuente taking over at the helm. After a handful of seasons prior to Coach Beamer’s retirement in which the play on the field was not up to the lofty standard that he himself set, the Hokies returned to prominence in the ACC, notching their first 10-win season and ACC Championship appearance since the 2011 season.
The Hokies finished the regular season with a 9-4 record, which included a loss to eventual National Champion Clemson in the conference championship game.
