ACC Softball Tournament: No. 3 Virginia Tech blows huge lead and falls to No. 2 Clemson

The Virginia Tech Hokies were rolling on Friday during the semifinals of the ACC Softball Tournament. The third-seeded Hokies led the No. Clemson Tigers 9-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, and all they needed was for sophomore pitcher Emma Mazzarone to finish strong.

Unfortunately, things fell apart for Mazzarone, who struggled after a strong start. So, with the Tigers closing in on the Hokies, Virginia Tech brought in star pitcher Emma Lemley to stop the bleeding. Lemley did not record an out, allowed four walks, and hit a batter. Just like that, a 9-2 lead was now a 10-9 deficit, and that’s how things would end.
