The Virginia Tech Hokies kicked off play in the ACC Baseball Tournament on Tuesday and fell to the Virginia Cavaliers, 3-2.
The Hokies will now face top-seeded Notre Dame on Wednesday. The Fighting Irish swept the Hokies last weekend to end the regular season.
UVa jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Hokies Tuesday, before Tech got on the board in the sixth inning when freshman Tanner Schobel knocked a two-run home run to cut Virginia’s lead to 3-2.
Unfortunately for Tech, it never got closer, and the Hokies dropped the opener, despite out-hitting Virginia, 6-5.
