The Virginia Tech Hokies added their fourth selection in the 2021 NFL draft on Saturday evening when running back Khalil Herbert was selected No. 217 overall by the Chicago Bears.
While my initial reaction was disappointment, as I felt Herbert should’ve gone higher, I do believe he is going to a place where he has a chance to compete to play early in his career.
Herbert, who rushed for over 1,000 yards and accounted for over 1,700 yards during his one season in Blacksburg, was one of several ACC running backs selected. Clemson’s Travis Etienne, and Michael Carter and Javonte Williams of UNC were also selected.
