The 2014 edition of the Virginia Tech Hokies were hosting one of those “awesome” noon kicks against upstart East Carolina. Fast forward three hours later, and the Hokies’ season never recovered. Keep in mind, the Hokies were fresh off the arguably biggest win in Frank Beamer’s history. They had done the unthinkable. They had traveled to “The Horseshoe” and beaten mighty Ohio State. The Hokies were riding an all time high, then East Carolina happened. More importantly, Shane Carden happened.
