Having produced seven champion boats and two national championship teams over the past 12 years, Virginia Rowing head coach Kevin Sauer knows what he's doing.
This time of year, he says that there's not too much science going into the program, and that really it's a work of art at this point.
"It's not just racing," Sauer acknowledged. "It's also school, papers, final exams...it's brutal academically. You have to be cognizant of that as a coach -- what kind of academic pressure they're under as part of the training too."
