Virginia’s Juan Thornhill blocks extra point and returns it 98 yards for a safety

Well, you don’t see that often. After the Indiana Hoosiers scored a touchdown following a fumbled kickoff by Joe Reed, the Hoos blocked the extra point and made something of it. Juan Thornhill, a senior safety for the Cavaliers, got a hand on the kick and forced it to the ground. He corralled the ball, and with the help of his teammates, returned it 98 yards for the safety.

While it’s technically called a “defensive extra point”, it’s worth two points and it put the Hoos a little closer to the Hoosiers at 13-9 with just under six minutes to play in the first quarter.
