“Summer has come and passed. The innocent can never last. Wake me up when September ends.”
After beating Duke on Saturday, the Virginia Cavaliers are EXACTLY where they need to be with regards to making a bowl game. The Wahoos only need to win two of their seven remaining games to reach bowl eligibility. What’s better, their next three opponents have a combined record of 5-13. Virginia will still need to exorcise some demons (starting against UNC this week), but it’s appropriate for fans to start day-dreaming about potential bowl destinations.
Schedule Analysis:
At the start of the season, I categorized Virginia’s schedule into four buckets:
- Should-wins: Home games against W&M, UConn, and Boston College
- Toss-ups: Home games against Indiana and Duke
- Potential Upsets: Road games against Pitt and UNC, and a home game against Georgia Tech
- Prayers: Road games against Louisville, Miami, and Boise State, and the home finale against Virginia Tech.
