Virginia basketball ranked No. 4 in preseason AP Poll

The first AP Poll of the 2020-21 season came out today (November 9), and the Virginia Cavaliers checked in at No. 4. Virginia is technically still the reigning National Champion after the 2020 NCAA tournament was canceled as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and the Hoos will have a legitimate shot at keeping the crown for three straight years.

Gonzaga came in at the No. 1 spot, followed by Baylor and Villanova, respectively. Virginia has a game scheduled against No. 3 Villanova on December 19 at Madison Square Garden. Although we don’t yet have an official schedule, we know (or as well as we can know something in 2020) that the Wildcats are one of five ranked teams the Hoos will face this season.
