While the eyes of Virginia fans were likely set on Wahoo Basketball down in Orlando, the Virginia Baseball team quietly picked up a win against a top-ten team on the road. Daniel Lynch was terrific shutting out the potent Clemson lineup and limiting them to only four hits en route to a 2-0 win. Virginia got just enough offense scoring single runs in the seventh and ninth innings and rode perfect relief performances from Alec Bettinger and Tommy Doyle to get the win.
After being baffled by Clemson starter Charlie Barnes all game long, Pavin Smith finally broke through with a solo home run to lead off the top of the seventh.
