Malcolm Brogdon scores 28 points, but Virginia falls short against Miami

MIAMI — Malcolm Brogdon couldn’t do it alone. The Virginia senior guard was on his way to scoring 28 points Monday, but Miami had a late lead and Cavaliers players were heated.

Forward Isaiah Wilkins was on the sideline, his head in the team physician’s hands after taking what looked like a knee to the back of the head minutes earlier. Virginia forward Anthony Gill locked arms with Miami’s Tonye Jekiri after the two went up for a rebound and still came away without the ball.

Brogdon held his composure late in the game, making his last three-pointer with 2 minutes 2 seconds left and helping the Cavaliers cut a late eight-point deficit down to one.
