Virginia goes from the South’s Oldest Rivalry to just the fifth all-time meeting against designated cross-division rival Louisville. The series is tied at 2-2, with each team taking home victories. The last time Louisville came to Charlottesville, the Cavaliers escaped with a 23-21 win over the No. 21 Cardinals, although Louisville took last year’s game, 38-31.
As part of the day’s festivities, former quarterback Matt Blundin will have his No. 14 jersey retired. Blundin played for the Cavaliers from 1988-1991, behind former UVA All-American Shawn Moore for three seasons. As a starter in 1991, Blundin threw an NCAA record 224 straight passes without an interception, a record that still stands today.
